I am collaborating with T.E.A.M. Time Enhanced Architectural Modeling to explore endless possibilities of connection between VR and design.
Creating a brand image for an ongoing research project about VR and conceptual ideas - you can only experience with virtual reality - was very challenging. We used colors and the glitch concept to define the idea of time and space.
Whatâs T.E.A.M.?
T.E.A.M. â Time Enhanced Architectural Modeling â is a research project inside Poplab that was created to facilitate the design of kinetic projects. Time is the ingredient that allows dynamism.
We transform architecture and design into experiences to be lived in virtual reality.
Original Experiences - we develop virtual narratives of architecture, some we have designed and some that already exist.
Design in VR - we offer a platform in VR where it is possible for architects and designers to create and modify their projects in a simulated world, varying in real time the characteristics of the objects and the environment.
T.E.A.M. was born as a R&D project from a specific consideration: normally, in digital, we design by creating three-dimensional models on two-dimensional devices. We have not found any software on the market that allows designers to create structures and generate dynamic relationships between them while immersed in a three-dimensional space. Dealing every day with the design of spaces, we imagined that such a tool could be extremely useful and we are therefore realizing it thanks to VR technology.

#75 "Salotto urbano" di Marta Grossi x The Torineser
Out of a desire to shine a light on the thousand faces of the city, a collaborative project with artists from Turin was born. Inspired by the iconic covers of The New Yorker, The Torineser, is a collection of author's views of the city of Turin.
With enormous pleasure, I share my first project designed and created for the city of Turin, which has become my home for almost two years now.
I chose this subject because it is one of my favorite places and combines architecture and nature - but it is also a place of reflection, breathing and connection.
A big thank you to The Torineser e Curve Creative Studio + Marco Gallo.

MAISON XXII Conceptualised in Les Baux-de-Provence, MAISON XXII dedicates to channel the way of European living into a fascinating journey of sensory inspiration. The joyful freedom of life under the Provençal sun, MAISON XXII is the pure spirit of Les Baux-de-Provence, the finest of European living.
I created a series of illustrations for the 3-storey concept store LA PETITE MAISON XXII in the enchanting St. Francis Street - Wanchai area in Hong Kong.
The windows are covered with some of the iconic patterns, reflecting the style and the essence of the brand.
Le anime volanti is an art performance exclusively created for Rovigoracconta, a cultural art and musical festival in the city of Rovigo - the place where I am born in the Veneto region of Northeast Italy.
The name in Italian literally means âflying soulsâ.
Before the art performance I painted 450 sheets of paper in A5 size, using the signature orange of the festival, and merging the palette with a deep blue, leaving only a white space in the middle.
In order to obtain an immersive experience inside a beautiful Venetian room of Palazzo Nagliati - a historic place in the city center - we hung the colored sheets from the ceiling, from different heights and placements.
The soft wind coming from the windows and even the most imperceptible human movement created a suspended and floating effect.
During two days and four sessions the art performance took place, the concept was to host a maximum of two people for a couple of minutes.
We asked to live the present moment and to not take photos and videos.
Something quite challenging in the digital and social era we are living.
I was waiting every person on the opposite side of the room, asking each to walk between the anime volanti - look around - and to pick one and bring it to me. Then I personally asked everyone to answer the question: HOW DO YOU FEEL NOW?
Based on the answer I chose a word, that I wrote in the middle of the sheet in black Japanese ink.
The person could then leave the room and take their own ANIMA VOLANTE at home.
Every human who crossed that room found a different scenario every time, because the person before was taking a little part of the installation. A changing room, a continuous evolution of space. We were only living in the NOW.
At the end of the two days of performance the room was empty and only the very high sheets had been left in the ceiling.
To remind us to embrace the present moment and to slow down to welcome the beauty that surrounds us every day.
Thank you again from my heart to yours
Special thanks to the organization of Rovigoracconta and to all the volunteers.
To @amiciaccademiarovigo for the space.

GRAFFITI & BANANAS EXHIBITION - The Art of the Street
4.9.2020 â21.3.2021 | Nordico Stadtmuseum Linz
Is this art or can it be trashed? Graffiti and street art have a way of polarising: wilful damage to property for some, for others added value or even art for the city and its inhabitants. When U.S.- American subculture came into being in the 1960s, graffiti became omnipresent in urban environments all over the world.
Since the 1980s a graffiti scene has developed in Linz, too, which became socially acceptable at the latest with the creation of Mural Harbor.
It did not take long for its potential for tourism and business to be discovered. Covering a wide range from âsignaturesâ, political slogans, stencil images and stickers on garbage cans to large-scale colourful spray paintings, these anti- establishment comments are to be found practically everywhere in Linzâs urban landscape. Unauthorised art takes possession of the city, raising once more the question of who public space belongs to. External determination, the culture of permissiveness and self-empowerment are all part of our societal structure and have incrementally been gaining in importance ever since the Covid-19 pandemic became part of everyday life.
The exhibition is the first of its kind to address the history of graffiti and street art in Linz. Photos, reports and contemporary topical art- works illustrate an urban movement whose pictorial language reflects in its murals the sociopolitical climate of our city.

"Marta Grossi eats her art for breakfast"
Exploring a variety of techniques from black markers to glitter, italian born, hong-kong-based designer marta grossi has created this series of edible banana graffiti. Each piece of fruit provides a simple and unique canvas upon which to inscribe the designs, transforming their exterior skin into a piece of artwork, at least temporarily. the photos were captured on an iPhone 5 and after the work is completed, the designer destroys it â by using it for what it was intended for â to be eaten.
âI customize my banana during the night. I have my banana for breakfast the day after. this is a temporary space and love to prove that inspiration is everywhere.â says designer Marta Grossi.
"Banana Graffiti Artist Marta Grossi Plays With Her Food"
Even though bananas seem like a completely random and bizarre place for art, Grossi admits she finds inspiration all around her. âI always found inspiration from simple and ordinary things,â she says. âA signal on the street, a song, a tender and elderly couple at the park, soy-sauce stains on a table. Everything can be inspiration and change our perspective. I love to see things from different angles.â For Grossi, bananas are a perfect medium for art because they are âcheap, organic and easy to find almost everywhere.â

âIn a temporary project, proving that inspiration is all around us, the designer uses bananas as her canvas. Every night she customizes a banana that she will eat for breakfast the next morning.

On March 8th, 2020 I found myself quarantined in Milan, where I previously came for a temporary time and working projects.
Now I am locked here alone - in a home that is not mine - and unable to come back to my family.
Working as creative director and artist is pushing me to use my creativity to stay mentally and physically healthy. A form of therapy and the best way I know to cope with anxiety and the global pandemic that is affecting our world.
Now more than ever we need to stay positive, and to find beauty even in the unexpected places.
Few weeks ago I thought about the perception of things, about how many times we are reminded to wash our hands since we met the corona virus. The sinks of all the world are now becoming silent companions, we look out every day - and under this tragic circumstances - a simple piece of furniture is changing in front of our eyes.
Since we are all locked inside, I use my imagination to see spring, flowers, nature and organic elements popping out the sink and surround my quarantine. The sink of this apartment is now my temporary canvas, at first it started as a necessity because I finished all of my drawing papers.
Every day I paint with watercolors a new subject and after 24 hours I let the water destroy the art piece, and that reminds me that life is beautiful even in the ugly, scary and the unknown. I use my iPhone to record some short videos, and then I play them reverse to see how the water is affecting the colors.
This is the message I want to give and share: to see the same things with different eyes. To be strong and to appreciate simple little things.
I am with you, we are all in this together. Creativity will never stop.
Love, Marta

Last year during these days in Spring 2020 - and the first lockdown - I was creating the first subjects of what it would later become my last temporary art project: âWash your hands and keep creativeâ
One year later, I am sharing with you the first ever permanent sink, designed and thought together with Gaia Venuti and her interior design company #gaiahomeproject based in Milan.
When we spoke about the idea, she told me her guest sink had some cracks and we decided to transform this natural pattern into the full concept. Plus the existing purple bathroom wall and the bauhaus style of her house. We dreamed about a contemporary abstract shape, to enhance the bright and vibrant colour and mood.
I must be honest, this was an extremely difficult artwork, I had no experience with resin, especially when the sink has an ergonomic shape and itâs impossible to control the chemical reaction of materials - or what will happen after drying time.
I had to scrape, erase and change the design several times, because the resin rejected some gold paint, made bubbles and I only had few hours in between sessions before the resin became unusable.
I was crazy enough to try the gold foil on ceramic - even without knowing if I was making a huge mistake or (maybe) getting the best intuition.
At one point Gaia said: âI completely trust youâ, so I just did it⌠I dared and we loved the final result.
Thanks for keep following my adventures. There will be more creative projects related to interior design soon.
Love, Marta

I believe that "the soul of Hong Kong" are the tangled roots all around the city - where I spent the last 8 years of my life - collecting these images and merging the most famous concrete jungle with the power of nature.
RÄdix of Hong Kong is a blend between photography, digital paint, acrylic and watercolor paint.
The idea is to work on the organic surface of the roots and play with empty and full spaces.
Revealing patterns inspired by the uniqueness of Nature. Every piece is unrepeatable, like every root or tree.
I am interested in natural supports and discover how they connect with human beings, emotions and life.
As the BFG says in Roald Dahlâs homonym book⌠âThe human bean is not a vegetableâ. Itâs a funny misspelled word, just like those invented by our kids that make us laugh so loud, which means human being.
But itâs also a little seed that is born within us and grows with our love until it becomes a real tiny person. It was just the best name we could find to bring our project to life.
Driven by the passion for good quality clothing and inspired by the extraordinary world of childrenâs literature, humanbeans brings you a collection of classic pieces as well as a selection of accessories to add a touch of magic to your babyâs universe.
Italy is the land of many leading fashion brands, but itâs also home to many smaller labels that never gave up the desire of producing the exceptional quality clothes of the old days. Hand-made embroideries, beautiful fine fabrics, that attention to details that is often lost in the rush of this modern world⌠everything still exists, itâs just harder to find.
Humanbeans wanders across small Italian towns, discovers the best boutiques crafting classic pieces and brings them to you in Geneva.
Rompers, collared shirts, bloomers and classic jumpers of the finest quality with timeless appeal.
Every item is designed, made and wrapped with love; perfect for your little oneâs everyday life!
Together we worked for a pop up in Geneva and I created some bespoke items, such mini artworks, illustrations, notebooks and painted hangers.

Joanna Chu Liao was born and raised in Hong Kong, where she learned to appreciate urban mixed cultures: from oriental tales to European practical and easy style. Her exposure to fashion started very early in life: Joannaâs family has been operating a garment business since decades - she was always fascinated and enchanted by both technical and creative aspects of the fashion industry.
